Today we have another guest challenge from Magic Me – an inter-generational arts charity that brings people together through the arts. They recently ran a project in London – Stepney Stories – bringing local primary school children together with care home residents to create stories that they then brought to life with shadow puppets. They thought this would be a brilliant challenge to share with you therefore Magic Me are inviting you to…
Create your own shadow puppet theatre. To make a screen, you can use a piece of white fabric (like a sheet or pillow case) or white paper. Then you can grab a light – a table lamp or torch. You and your fellow storyteller will be one side of the sheet with the light – the audience will be on the other side. Can you create characters using your hands? What kind of voices do they have?
If you have a bit more time…
You could create a short story for the characters and add music or sounds and maybe get someone to film it for you?
Did you enjoy making your shadow puppet theatre? What characters did you make? Did you find it easy or hard?
Share a picture of your shadow puppet theatre and/or the characters you made. Otherwise you can always just share how you found the challenge. Share with Magic Me on Twitter and Facebook and with us on our website dothinkshare.com and/or on your social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
