Have you ever been a poet without even knowing it? This week the BBC are asking you to get involved in…
The Washing Line – Write a poem on a postcard about where you live.
Take inspiration from Hull’s own Phillip Larkin and write a poem on a postcard about where you live, take a photo of it and share this with us on social media using #64MillionArtists & #ChallengeHull.
If you’d like to, you can send your postcard to BBC Radio Humberside and your poem could be chosen as one of the 2,017 poems to be hung from a mammoth washing line during the BBC Contains Strong Language festival later this year.
If you have a bit more time…
How many poems can you write about where you live? Is there more than one thing about this place that can spark your creative writing?
Did taking the time to think about where you live make you appreciate it more? Did it help re-ignite your love for your home?
Share photos of your poems on a postcard on social media using #64MillionArtists & #ChallengeHull. You can share your poems with BBC Radio Humberside by posting them or dropping them into reception or a local Hull library.

This year we are working in collaboration with Hull 2017, UK City of Culture to deliver transformative cultural activity and celebrate everyday creativity in 2017.
