🛠 A Toolkit for Gathering
When we gather, and get creative together - we think and feel differently about what we can do in the world. So, new for this year, we’ve created a toolkit for gathering during January (or after). Use it to bring together people you live with, work with, play with or plan with, and make steps towards change you want to see.
If you're curious to hear more, and looking for some inspiration, community support and real-life ideas - come along to our free online session on the 6th November (link in bio!)

The January Challenge is 31 days of quick, fun and The January Challenge is 31 days of quick, fun and accessible creative prompts - each designed by different people and groups across the UK.
📣 Today we launch our last January Challenge. Last week we announced that we would sadly be closing our public programme, in the face of challenging funding landscapes, and as our Founder and CEO moves on. It’s been an amazing 12 years of creativity, fun and joy. We've got creative with over 750,000 people and we are so proud of this amazing community…and we want to go out with a bang. 🌟 Are you with us?! 🌟
With so much flux in the world, we wanted to focus our last January on using creativity to make positive change. So, each of the 31 prompts will help us look at things differently, dream new ideas, look after ourselves and each other, and support us to make change in our lives and in the world around us. Some amazing partners and people have helped dream up the 31 prompts - and we will be introducing you to them in the coming weeks. It’s going to be a great one.

Some news from us at 64 Million Artists… After Some news from us at 64 Million Artists…
After 12 years as Founder and CEO of 64 Million Artists, Jo Hunter will be stepping down from the role. “I am so proud of everything we have achieved, and still equally as passionate about the ability of creativity to make change but life looks very different for me than it did 12 years ago and I am ready for a new chapter with flexibility to learn, grow and flex my own creativity.”
It has been a challenging couple of years for anyone running a social enterprise. Grants are hard to come by, and whilst our creative facilitation and training work continues to thrive, it has become more and more challenging to support our public programme in the face of difficult financial circumstances.
In this moment of reflection, and with Jo stepping down, the board and team have taken the difficult decision to close our public programme. The 2026 January Challenge will be our last.
What’s next?
Our company culture will remain long beyond the end of the public programme. 64 Million Artists will continue to deliver its thriving creative facilitation and training programmes for clients. We are so grateful to you for being on this journey with us and we are excited to work alongside you in this final phase of the public programme to use creativity as a change making tool.
We know that this news might feel hard, especially if you have enjoyed The January Challenge over the years. As a team, we are committed to sharing the 2026 resources as widely as possible and will support our brilliant online community and other communities across the country to self-organise for 2027 onwards! We will be in touch soon, for the launch of the 2026 campaign and, as always, are really keen to hear from you.
📣 Get in touch with any ideas, suggestions and reflections as we prepare to end this era of The January Challenge in 64 Million Artists style - celebrating the voices of as many people involved as possible.
