Lucy Reeves-Khan, Founder and Creative Director at Window Wanderland CIC
Bristol
Please can you introduce yourself to the 64 Million Artists community!
I’m Lucy Reeves-Khan and I started Window Wanderland in 2015, in Bristol. Now it’s a world-wide network of festivals, where anyone can light up their communities with displays in their windows and gardens. I’m passionate about bringing playfulness to the streets, and loving where you live. People wandering about in the evening to admire the creativity of their neighbours, and to find out more about who is living there. This project shines light on peoples expression, using their home - whether permanent or temporary - as their canvas, and it's accessible, no matter how many spoons you have.
Creativity Is…
is our dna
How has your creativity inspired change in yourself or with those around you?
As I live with chronic illness, creativity is both my escape and my means of exploring the world. I used to work in the film industry and used my creative mind and body to design movie sets. Now, I use the same tools to connect with people more directly. Knowing that my work has given more than 34,000 people the opportunity to express themselves to their neighbours - and the wider world - is beyond satisfying. Before I was in an exclusive club of “creative people”, now I feel surrounded by artists and the brilliance of my fellow humans.
