London

Please can you introduce yourself to the 64 Million Artists community!

Yuruparí Grupo Folclórico CIC is a community dance group based in Elephant & Castle, London, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Colombia since 1988. As a community interest company, we are dedicated to sharing the beauty, diversity, and spirit of Colombian music and dance with audiences across the UK. We run weekly open classes where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn and connect, and we regularly perform at festivals, cultural events, and community celebrations. We also deliver workshops in schools and local settings, fostering cultural understanding, creativity, and community through dance and live music.

Creativity Is…

our ancestral roots

How has your creativity inspired change in yourself or with those around you?

Creativity has changed me by connecting me to my ancestry and the community around me. Through dance and music, I feel the rhythms of my ancestors alive in every step, guiding me and inspiring expression I didn’t know I had. Sharing this with others brings joy and connection — I’ve seen friends, family, and students find confidence and belonging through the same movements. Creativity has shown me that our roots are not just history; they are living, breathing, and shared. It has transformed how I see myself and how I move through the world, always connected to something larger.
