Please can you introduce yourself

I'm Rachel and I run boom saloon, a global media movement to democratise creativity for good. I cut my teeth studying fashion before working at Condé Nast as my introduction to publishing. I always believed the industry could be the perfect vehicle to do good, something I'm privileged to work on each day at boom saloon.

Where does creativity show up for you and how do you use it?

Creativity is interwoven into so much of our everyday – from the design of the toothpaste cap you unscrew every morning to the fabric of the pillowcase you lay your head on at night. My work allows me to recognise this and imagine how much better our world could be if we empowered others to recognise their own creative potential.

Has your creativity ever led you to any unexpected places or connections?

Yes; all around the world, with a particular favourite being a move to Kuala Lumpur solo having never before set foot anywhere in Asia!

What drew you to take part in The January Challenge?

STAND's suggestion!

Would you like to share any more details about the group or community you hope to work with?

STAND first met as a group in September 2019. The group was formed as a peer support group for people who were living with a diagnosis of younger onset dementia – that is people who are diagnosed with dementia under the age of 65 – and their families and friends. We have collaborated together ever since and look forward to unlocking more potential going forward.

Finish the sentence. 'Creativity Is...'
