Church & Dwight

We were invited by this American consumer goods company to help them tell their story and see if we could help improve employee engagement at their toothpaste factory.

The Brief

In 2015, we were contacted by Creative Folkestone, who were keen to come up with a project for one of the sponsors of their Book Festival. Church and Dwight are an American-owned consumer goods company with a factory and offices in Folkestone.

They make Arm & Hammer toothpaste, Batiste Dry Shampoo and other beauty and cleaning products. We were invited to help them tell their story and see if we could help improve employee engagement at the factory.

Who was involved?

Church and Dwight have over 300 staff across the factory floor, warehouse and offices. We worked with 40 staff initially to help design the programme, and then all staff took part.

What we did

Together with the core group, we co-designed 10 weeks of creative challenges for them to do in their teams. They could take an extra 20-minute break to do the challenge each week and share what they did in the canteen and across meetings.

What was the result?

This little movie tells the whole story, but the results were extraordinary, and it remains one of our favourite projects.

"It's given people ownership - made them feel part of the company. So that people want to come to work and have fun while they're here. Everyone's really embraced it. Once people start having a go they think it's really good fun and they start looking forward to what they'll do next."
