Johari’s Window
Creativity is... Johari Window.
This April, The Bomb Factory Art Foundation presents a line up of creative prompts from resident artists of their studios that engage with the local community through their work.
“The Bomb Factory Art Foundation is committed to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the art world by dismantling barriers to art education and enrichment. Through the opening of our five sites in London, we operate extensive exhibition and education programs that benefit local communities and schools. Additionally, we offer the public opportunities to engage with contemporary art through exhibitions, workshops, screenings, poetry evenings, performances, talks, and various cultural events. For more information about our initiatives, to support us, and to see the dates for upcoming shows, follow us on social media or visit our website.”
This week it’s over to Sol Golden Sato!
“My name is Sol Golden Sato. I was born in Malawi - Southern Africa. I live and work in London. I make paintings and I also work with communities on large projects. My art tells stories by and of these individuals and communities to the wider world. In the past I have worked with diverse communities from inner city council estates to rural villages in the Scottish Borders.”

Create a Johari Window.
The Johari Window is a technique designed to help people better understand their relationship with themselves and others, on this occasion more specifically - our creativity! Follow these steps:
Draw a box with four quadrants, copy the template below..
Fill in the boxes in order 1,2,3,4, you could illustrate your words to bring them to life!

This graphic features a Johari Window template titled 'Ways I Use My Creativity...'. It consists of four equal squares arranged in a 2x2 grid. Each square contains an instruction with a space underneath for your response:
In the First Box, the text says "...That I know about myself and that others know about too.."
In the Second Box, the text says, "..That I don't know about myself but others do know (ask a friend or community member for this one!)"
In the third Box, the text says, "... That I know about myself but that others do not know about..."
In the fourth Box, the text says,"What I don't know about myself and that others don't know either..."
Think
Are there any surprises or similarities in each box? Take a moment to think about what creativity means to you? Have you stopped being playful? How can you be more creative in daily life, work and play?
Share
When you finish yours, turn to someone you know and support them with their Johari window to discover their hidden creativity. You can then both share this amazing tool with others and spread the message.
