Find a Tree

Day 28: Find a Tree

Welsh translation: Dod o hyd i goeden

Sian Williams

Hi, I’m Sian and work as a Wellbeing Officer for Golygfa Gwydyr (GG) (a non-profit community group) in Llanrwst, North Wales. We are very lucky to have a site up in the local forest to hold a variety of wellbeing sessions from sound baths and foraging to wildlife ID. These sessions are held outdoors for people to understand and gain the benefits of being in nature. We currently work with the local community (all ages), housing association groups and veterans. We have an active band at GG and there is an interest in developing the arts and creativity. That’s why it’s great to be part of the January Challenge to involve all at GG to establish a creative group and enjoy the benefits of this.

I chose this challenge as I have personally benefitted physically and mentally from the benefits of getting out into the woods/forest. A tree or a forest offers so much creativity, it changes with the seasons and time, if you look deeper you will find a whole other fascinating world of creatures and mycelium…. what each person will discover and create will be different. Being able to enjoy this creativity whilst also getting the benefits of being outdoors where anxiety and stress can be reduced has got to be good.

Helo, fy enw i yw Sian a dwi’n gweithio fel Swyddog Lles i Golygfa Gwydyr (GG) (grŵp cymunedol nid-er-elw) yn Llanrwst, gogledd Cymru. Rydyn ni’n lwcus iawn fod gennym ni safle yn y goedwig leol i gynnig amrywiaeth o sesiynau lles, fel profi bath sain, mynd i fforio neu adnabod bywyd gwyllt. Caiff y sesiynau hyn eu cynnal yn yr awyr agored er mwyn i bobl ddeall ac elwa o werth natur. Ar hyn o bryd rydyn ni’n gweithio gyda’r gymuned leol (o bob oed), yn ogystal â grwpiau tai cymdeithasol a chyn-filwyr. Mae gennym fand gweithgar yn GG ac rydyn ni’n awyddus i ddatblygu’r celfyddydau a chreadigrwydd. Dyna pam ei bod yn wych cael bod yn rhan o Her Mis Ionawr er mwyn cynnwys pawb yn GG gan sefydlu grŵp creadigol a mwynhau’r holl fanteision.

Do

Visit a tree – or trees! – in a park, woods, forest, or find videos or images of trees. How do you feel? Look up, look down, look again…what catches your attention, visually, sound, smell, taste. Stay with the trees or return home to draw, write, express in sound what the experience was for you. Take a second look. What is different this time?

Ewch i weld coeden – neu goed! – mewn parc, coedlan, coedwig, neu chwiliwch am fideos neu luniau o goed. Sut ydych chi’n teimlo? Edrychwch i fyny, edrychwch i lawr, edrychwch eto… beth sy’n dal eich sylw, yn weledol, o ran sain, arogl, blas. Arhoswch gyda’r coed neu ewch adref i arlunio, ysgrifennu, neu fynegi mewn sain sut oedd y profiad i chi. Edrychwch eilwaith. Beth sy’n wahanol y tro hwn?

Think

Think about how being by a tree, in a forest, looking at the images or videos of trees makes you feel. Noticing how nature makes you feel. Take time to look up and down and deeper into the space. What can you take from the experience.

Meddyliwch sut mae bod gerllaw coeden, mewn coedwig, neu’n edrych ar luniau neu fideos o goed yn gwneud i chi deimlo. Sylwch ar sut mae natur yn gwneud i chi deimlo. Cymerwch amser i edrych i fyny ac i lawr ac yn ddyfnach i mewn i’r gofod. Beth allwch chi ei gasglu o’r profiad?

Share

We invite each group to share their experiences with each other and wider groups. We can offer sessions at Golygfa Gwydyr to share experiences. We can also invite and share on facebook and maybe approach the local library to exhibit work which would be great. #TheJanuaryChallenge

Rydyn ni’n gwahodd pob grŵp i rannu eu profiadau gyda’i gilydd a gyda grwpiau ehangach. Gallwn gynnig sesiynau yn Golygfa Gwydyr i rannu profiadau. Gallwn hefyd wahodd a rhannu ar Facebook a byddai’n wych cael sgwrs gyda’r llyfrgell leol ynglŷn â dangos gwaith. #TheJanuaryChallenge
