Pieces Together (Peace is Together)

Day 26: Pieces Together (Peace is Together)

Welsh translation: Heddwch Gyda’n Gilydd

Day 26: Pieces Together (Peace is Together)

“One of the groups I’ll be working with to bring The January Challenge to life is Friends For English – a befriending project to help newcomers, mainly asylum seekers and refugees, to practice English and make new friends in Hull. In a meeting with the group a prominent theme that came up was the idea of individuals’ contributions connecting with a larger whole. This is reflected in this prompt.”

Do

Day 26 with Isaac Acheampong

Create a collage or mixed media assemblage responding to the themes of ‘Peace’ and/or ‘Together’.

What does Peace mean to you?
What does being ‘together’ mean to you?
Who do you like to be ‘together’ with?
When you are ‘together’ with people how does it make you feel?

Flick through scrap paper, magazines or newspapers and rip out any images or words that you associate with the theme, and piece together a collage. Do this activity as a group, or individually.

Crëwch gollage neu greadigaeth deunydd cymysg yn ymateb i themâu ‘Heddwch’ a/neu ‘Gyda’n Gilydd’.

Beth yw ystyr Heddwch i chi?
Beth yw ystyr ‘Gyda’n Gilydd’?
Ystyr gwreiddiol y gair ‘gilydd’ yw cydymaith, cymar, cymydog.
Pwy yw’r rhain i chi?
Sut deimlad yw bod gyda nhw?

Edrychwch ar bapur sgrap, cylchgronau neu bapurau newydd a rhwygo allan unrhyw ddelweddau neu eiriau sydd yn eich denu ar y thema hon – a rhowch nhw at ei gilydd i greu collage. Neu greu rhywbeth o wahanol ddeunyddiau sydd wrth law.

Think

Whilst taking part, think about how we are, simultaneously, individuals as well as parts of larger connected wholes. Much like the smaller bits of individual pieces of material, text, objects…etc. that are assembled, arranged and composed, to make a larger, whole piece, like an assemblage, collage or montage.

Wrth wneud hyn meddyliwch sut yr ydym, ar yr un pryd, yn unigolion ac yn rhannau o bethau sydd yn gysylltiedig â’i gilydd. Yn ddigon tebyg i ddarnau bach o ddefnydd, testun, gwrthrychau… ayyb sydd yn cael eu casglu a’u gosod ac yn creu darn cyfan mwy, fel cydosodiad, collage neu fontage.
