The Big Lunch

Creativity is... The Big Lunch

This June, the creative prompts are brought to you by Month of Community

“The Month of Community is a time to come together to celebrate everything that makes our communities great. Thirteen organisations work in partnership to help shine a light on all of the amazing things happening in our communities and encourage connection with each other and the places where we live. Millions of people take part throughout June to say cheers to volunteers, connect with their neighbours, welcome refugees, support carers, raise awareness of loneliness, or make a positive difference where they live." Choose how you’d like to join in, or do a few, it’s up to you. Here’s a video to explain more!

This week’s Month of Community partners are The Big Lunch 1st - 2nd of June / Neighbourhood Watch Week, 1st - 7th June / Have a Grow, 1st - 9th June / Volunteers’ Week, 3rd - 9th June / The Big Help Out, 7th - 9th June / Great Big Green Week, 8th - 16th June

This week's prompt spotlights The Big Lunch - encouraging people to come together to share friendship, food and fun and get to know each other a little better. This simple act in our neighbourhoods and communities can help reduce loneliness, build resilience, encourage volunteering and lead to lasting positive change.

Everyone’s invited because we know great things happen when we get together, and we all have something we can bring to the table, from food and conversation to music and laughter! Big Lunches come in all shapes and sizes and represent the individuality of each community. Watch this video!

Draw or create something that you would bring to a neighbourly Big Lunch.

It might be a dish, a game or a topic of conversation.

This year we’re making it the greenest Big Lunch yet, think about what you’ve drawn or created. Could you make it more planet-friendly by using different materials or ingredients? What could you do with it after a Big Lunch to reduce waste or give it a new purpose?
