Please can you introduce yourself
I’m an interdisciplinary artist with a background in geography and environmental science, exploring how nature shapes our experiences and influences our communities. Through painting, performance, and film, I highlight the agency and poetry of non-human lives that often go unnoticed.
I’m passionate about connecting people with the natural world through art. I run an arts collective called Sundial Arts where we create workshops and events promoting art as a tool to connect people with the environment. We host accessible workshops empowering communities to create while reflecting on their relationship with nature, working with organisations like St. Margaret's House.
Where does creativity show up for you and how do you use it?
Creativity shows up for me daily in how I stay present and respond to my surroundings. I challenge norms, approach situations with new perspectives, and respond intuitively to whatever the day brings. For me, creativity is about staying open, curious, and responding to the world around you from a place that is distinctively yours.
Has your creativity ever led you to any unexpected places or connections?
My creativity once led me to Sweden, where I spent months with foragers, exploring their deep connection to the environment. I met mycologists and others who live entirely off foraged goods, and ventured deep into the forests of southern Sweden, discovering unexpected insights and connections with nature and people.
What drew you to take part in The January Challenge?
I believe art is for everyone and no one should feel limited to express themselves in any creative practice. I love the idea that The January Challenge brings people together to respond creatively to different prompts –I promote this in my own practice and workshops too, and I’m very excited to be able to share it with more people around the UK as part of this initiative.
Finish the sentence. 'Creativity Is...'
