Creativity is... My story.
This week it’s over to Patricia Gray, with a creative prompt inspired by her new start!
“I live in Scotland, I enjoy meeting people and facing new challenges, I am a member of Toastmasters in Dunfermline…in a new role as Vice President of Public Relations, and also a volunteer Walk Leader Locally, and I do other local volunteering as well.”
Do
Write a Speech About a New Beginning
Think about something new in your life or something that’s coming soon—a new job, hobby, routine, or way of seeing the world.
Now, imagine sharing this experience with someone close to you. Write a short piece—whether it’s a poem, a story, or a speech—that captures what this new start means to you.
Share what excites or challenges you about this new chapter in your life.
Think
Reflect on how you might feel walking into a room to deliver this speech. Are you happy, scared, or confident? How many people are going to be in the room? A few friendly faces, or is it in a big room with one hundred strangers looking and listening to you.
How do you feel once you have delivered your speech? Room for improvement, happy it went well, confident you did your best. If you were to share it again, what would you do differently.
Share
If you feel comfortable, you could deliver your speech aloud to yourself or to someone you know. Invite them to try speech writing. Or keep it to yourself to revisit when the subject doesn’t feel new anymore.
