This week it’s over to Hannah Colthorpe!

“I'm Hannah, I am a 23 year old artist from Nottingham. I'm in my last year of studying Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. My work is about building funny cartoon characters which represent myself and my friends and strangers I interact with! The characters interact with each other and run into issues along the way, which I represent through drawings, printmaking and performance. I like performing wearing masks and funny costumes and making people laugh!

The character which represents me is a dinosaur named Steg. It's fun to physically make characters so that you can play out stories with them.

If you follow these instructions, you can make your own character to make stories with!”

Do

To listen to the creative prompt below, please use the Userway Accessibility plugin in the left-hand corner of the screen. If you need any further assistance, please contact [email protected]

Use materials you have around you to create your very own dinosaur character! You can follow the instructions in the downloadable step by step guide, or make it up from scratch! Next, draw your character on some paper.

Think

Now that you have made your dinosaur, think about what their personality is like, what are their interests, what are they good at?

Next, imagine a story that your dinosaur would be in. What adventure does your dinosaur go on, what friends do they make?
